In collaboration with West Chester University students, faculty and staff, the Center for Women and Gender Equity actively promotes and advocates for a campus community that values the safety, equality, and intellectual advancement of women and other historically marginalized groups.

 

The Center for Women and Gender Equity (CWGE) is currently seeking a graduate student for the 2026-2027 Academic year. Graduate Assistant team members play a vital role in the development and operation of the Center for Women & Gender Equity. This specific position will support the co-curricular and outreach activities of the Center for Women & Gender Equity. This position requires 15-20 hours of work per week.  Some evening and weekend hours will be required. 

 

Position Description

The graduate assistant will participate in the development and implementation of education programs and, under the supervision of the Director, lead efforts around outreach and co-curricular programming, especially for Fraternity & Sorority Life. The successful candidate will be committed to the success of all Center for Women & Gender Equity projects and to an environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates differences. To this end, the successful candidate will work effectively, respectfully, and collaboratively in inclusive settings.

 

Primary Responsibilities

  • Update, coordinate and deliver curricula for Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Council violence prevention peer facilitators, including work on the weekends
  • Help coordinate co-curricular programming, including preparation and practice for peer educators and facilitating programs as needed. 
  • Assist the Center in the execution of relevant grants, including maintaining records, partnership with internal and external agencies, and curriculum development
  • Assist the Center in the implementation of campus wide programming and events, including the Gender Justice Conference and Sexual Assault Awareness Month.
  • Oversee residence life outreach programs
  • In consultation with full time staff, design and update curricula for co-curricular programs. 
  • Participate in the design, coordination, and facilitation of CWGE programming for student groups and organizations as requested
  • Provide information, assistance, and referrals for students and visitors to the Center
  • Assist in assessment and evaluation of Center programs and services
  • Serve on committees as assigned 

 

The following qualifications are required: 

  • Current or incoming  Master’s or PhD candidate at West Chester University of Pennsylvania 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and best practices
  • Experience and familiarity with violence prevention initiatives
  • Coursework or work experience in issues of gender and social justice in education a/o research (e.g., participatory action research, trauma informed practices, restorative justice, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to be self-starting and self- motivating 
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner
  • Ability to work unsupervised, independently, and in groups

 

Preference will be given to applicants with the following experiences: 

  • Experience with curriculum development and design 
  • Experience with assessment best practices
