WCU Athletics Student Athlete Success Graduate Assistant

The Student-Athlete Success Graduate Assistant is responsible for organizing, designing and facilitating support programs exclusively available to student-athletes. The SAS Graduate Assistant will work closely with campus departments (and occasional outside groups) to provide programming for WCU’s 550 student-athletes. The SAS core areas include academic success, leadership, personal and professional development and sports performance. The SAS Graduate Assistant will work to promote these areas through social media and implement programs throughout the academic year. The graduate assistant reports to the Associate Athletics Director and will coordinate with other members of the Athletic Administration as needed.

Conditions of Employment:
 
·        Complete 20 hours of work per week
·        Term appointment is for the current academic year, 9 months (August – May)
·        Graduate Assistants must maintain a 3.0 cumulative grade point average
 
Job Duties:
 
·        Arrange and organize SAS programs and workshops, media content, and support materials
·        Create and publish routine social media content to Instagram, Twitter & Facebook
·        Communicate with Coaches concerning potential support topics specific to their team
·        Coordinate with Sports Information upon media and message dissemination
·        Generate feedback measurements gauging topics that are relevant to student-athletes
·        Co-Advise Student-Athlete Advisory Committee
·        Ensure all media and support materials are uploaded to the WCU Athletics website
·        Track each team’s community service hours and prepare a report for the PSAC
·        Actively communicate with Athletic Administration, Sports Performance Staff, Compliance Coordinator, and Coordinator of Academic Support Services to ensure any necessary and essential information is relayed to all student-athletes
·        Promote Leadership and Community Service opportunities for students-athletes to attend
·        Facilitate programs within the Horrocks Leadership Institute
 
Qualifications:
 
·        Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with Athletics community
·        Think strategically as it relates to online presence and content creation
·        Willingness to learn necessary and useful software to assist with media and communication
·        Excellent communication skills both in-person and written
