Graduate Assistant for Student Activities

 Under the direction of the Associate Director of Student Activities and in conjunction with the Assistant Director of Student Activities, the Graduate Assistant will assist in the advisement of the Student Activities Council (SAC) at West Chester University to develop a variety of programming to the campus community. This position will be an opportunity to develop important skills such as oral and written communication, critical thinking and problem solving, leadership, teamwork and collaboration, professionalism/work ethic, and diversity and inclusion.
 
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:  
 
  • Directly advising a SAC Event Coordinator position to deliver an array of programming
  • Overseeing various campus events planned and implemented by SAC
  • Serving on various committees including but not limited to the Church St. Fest Planning Committee and the Ramboree Planning Committee
  • Using creativity and critical thinking skills to create attainable and measurable goals
  • Effectively promoting and marketing events
  • Using best practices in assessment to ascertain the success and sustainability of events
 
QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Acceptance into a West Chester University Graduate program (preferably Higher Education Policy and Student Affairs)
  • Good written and verbal communication skills (public speaking and presentation skills)
  • Willingness to work occasional late night and weekend hours and in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organizational, administrative, and planning skills and experience
  • Interest and enthusiasm in working with college students individually and in groups
  • Strong leadership and advisory skills
  • Ability to work with diverse groups of people
  • Understanding of computer applications, particularly Microsoft Excel, Word, Publisher, and Outlook
  • Co-Curricular/Leadership experience as an undergraduate
