Leadership Consultant for Leadership Development

The Office of Student Leadership and Involvement and Leadership Empowerment and Development (LEAD) are currently seeking undergraduate students to fill the positions of Leadership Consultants. Leadership Consultants will have one of two roles. Leadership Consultant for Student Organization Engagement or Leadership Consultant for Student Leadership Development.  

All LC’s will be asked to help present to various audiences, supporting involvement fairs and other specialty programs, and staff the Leadership Resource Center, located in the Center for Student Involvement on the 2nd floor in Sykes Union. While the position does have some flexibility it does require time and commitment. Those seeking to student teach or hold other time heavy leadership positions on campus should carefully consider if they have the time and flexibility to hold the position.  
Required Qualifications  
  • Must be an active full-time undergraduate student in good academic standing during term of position with at least one year of academic work remaining at the University. A minimum grade point average of a 2.5 cumulative GPA is required and must be maintained.  
  • Must commit 8-10 consistent hours per week and be able to provide day and evening coverage of workshops, presentations, and other office and LEAD events. This time commitment includes a weekly LEAD team meeting.   
  • Knowledge of the campus and a general understanding of the needs of student leaders and student organizations  
  • Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills  
  • Passion for campus involvement, service, community, engagement, and leadership  
  • Careful attention to detail and willingness to learn  
  • Must be able to work both individually and collaboratively, and with varying levels of supervision  
  • Completion of a successful interview process 
  • Must be able to attend training that occurs in early August.   

Preferred Qualifications  
  • Previous participation in West Chester University student organizations and other programs, including our leadership programs  
  • Willingness to brainstorm innovative approaches to educate students and student groups on leadership 
  • Creativity or the willingness to explore your creative side 
  • Public speaking/program development skills 
  • Experience using Ram Connect or the ability/willingness to learn this management tool 

Responsibilities & Essential Functions   
 
 Leadership Consultants for Leadership Development 
  • Facilitate leadership development programs including but not limited to Emerging Leaders, Explore, Personal Best Leadership Series, Global Series, Leadership Summit, Varsity Athletic Leadership programs.  
  • Further develop and assist in facilitating leadership programs with campus partners Athletics, Honors College and Campus Recreation 
  • Track all participants of leadership programs and assist with assessment of all programs 
  • Serve on planning committee for Division of Student Affairs Conferences (Ruby Jones, Bothers of Excellence, Student Leadership Summit, Gender Justice) 
  • Complete training and facilitate programming for Low Ropes and potentially high ropes course on South Campus.  
  • Assist in marketing all leadership programs to recruit a diverse group of participants
