GRADUATE ASSISTANTSHIP PROVOST OFFICE 2025-2026
Position Description:
PROVOST OFFICE – The Graduate Assistant (GA) for the Office of the Provost will work to assist in the implementation of processes that support the academic center of West Chester University including accreditation, assessment, program review, and strategic planning. The institutional effectiveness processes are carried out to ensure WCU consistently strives to make data informed decisions.
INSTITUTIONAL EFFECTIVENESS
ACCREDITATION – The GA will assist the Provost Office in the compilation of information used to support programmatic and institutional accreditation through the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Tasks might include the following –
§ Under the direction of the Associate Provost for Accreditation, Assessment, & Planning, the GA will review MSCHE communications including policy updates and summarize key findings.
§ The GA will review information provided by programs to update annual programmatic accreditation schedule.
§ Under the direction of the Associate Provost for Accreditation, Assessment, & Planning the GA will proof programmatic and institutional self-study materials.
ASSESSMENT – The GA will assist the Provost Office in organization and oversight of academic and administrative assessment processes.
§ The GA will review assessment schedules and communicate with various stakeholders to ensure the timely submission of assessment documents.
§ Under the direction of the Associate Provost for Accreditation, Assessment, & Planning, the GA will enter information into the Nuventive assessment software system.
PROGRAM REVIEW – WCU engages in Program Review as outlined in the PASSHE Program Review Policy. Academic Programs that do not hold programmatic accreditation as well as administrative units in support of the student experience are evaluated at least once every five years.
§ Under the direction of the Associate Provost for Accreditation, Assessment, & Planning, the GA will work with department chairs and program directors to assist in collecting and organizing materials for the review such as syllabi and faculty c.v.’s.
§ The GA will enter relevant information and material into SharePoint sites that will be used for the program review. The GA will also proof select material once entered to ensure that accuracy.
§ The GA will work to identify and troubleshoot the process and to develop instructional materials for use to help implement the process.
STRATEGIC PLANNING – WCU is engaged in strategic planning activities on a continual cycle. The Associate Provost for Accreditation, Assessment, & Planning facilitates the university involvement in this work.
§ Under the direction of the Associate Provost for Accreditation, Assessment, & Planning, the GA will assist in the facilitation of strategic planning activities.
§ The GA will perform other tasks in the Office of the Provost as needed.
